“$99 Intro Special for Beginners with Free On-Ramp Program, Limited Time”

On Aug 1st, 2010, I walked into Crossfit of Pleasanton and it was not an ordinary looking gym. My very first impression was that I have no idea how to use any of the equipment/weights here, how will I survive this “gym”? Little did I know that this is a Coaching Facility, and we are not expected to know anything, everything is demonstrated prior to the workout. In my initial meeting with Paul, he asked a few questions about my activity level, nutrition, and my goals. At the time, I was only looking to lose the weight I have gained after having two babies in the past few years. Additionally, Paul “lectured” me on Crossfit, what it entails, and so forth. I recognized his passion for Crossfit immediately. I’d admit, most of what he said sounded Greek to me, however, I was truly admired by his passion and confidence in his work-field.

One of the challenges I carried with me was being a vegetarian and not knowing what is healthy eating. In my past experiences at other gyms and trainers, I have failed to receive the proper nutritional guidance for a vegetarian diet. As I shared this with Paul, he was surprised to hear about my unsuccessful experience. Subsequently, he created and personalized a special diet to fit with my vegetarianism. I recall feeling a sense of ease in this trusting moment. Typically, I have been treated as a target to meet a sales quota at average gyms, but at CSP I was greeted with support, challenge, and confidence. Paul helped me set my goals high and provided me access to all the tools I will need to succeed.

In a matter of a few weeks, I witnessed differences in my body, from dropping pounds to ultimately dropping body fat. The results are a product of two elements: showing up, and following the diet. The workouts are crazy, in a good way though! Everyone walks out of CSP feeling like a new mission was accomplished. Initially, my workouts were scaled to the beginner’s level and I couldn’t help but wonder if I will ever build the strength as my peers. In about a month or so, I started doing everything with everyone with little to no scaling down. I experienced a major strength gain and the capacity to perform the daily workouts.

Thank you Paul, for your support and for always challenging me to the maximum. I am not at CSP to just lose the weight anymore; this is my new way of life and I love it! -MV

I feel like a new person and I am happy in my skin again, Thanks to Paul Southern and Re-Active Gym. I lost 12.5% of my body fat in 6 months. That equates to losing 22lbs of fat, gaining 2 lbs of muscle and dropping 20 total pounds of weight! I went from a size 10 jeans to a size 4.

Best place I have ever worked out. Great staff, clean facility, and the coaches know what they are doing. Both Paul and Dan are great trainers. If you are looking for a CrossFit class in the bay area don’t look any further.

…I do not have Paul’s e-mail or anything like that so pleaseee tell him thank you for me!!! He kicked my butt and I really appreciated it! It was an awesome experience, and I hope we have to chance to do it all again next summer!
